    Refunds & Course Size: If you cancel, there is a 50% refund unless we can find someone to fill your spot. Minimum number of people is 6 with a maximum of 12. If we don't get 6 people you get a full refund.

    Description: This course will allow you to wear and use a holster in the SRCC handgun range. This is NOT a Black Badge course.

    The course will cover:

    • Safety aspects when using the safe area and on the firing line for uncasing/casing, holstering;
    • Drawing/holstering;
    • loading, unloading, grip, stance;
    • moving from point A to B with loaded gun.
    • Loading on the move (muzzle direction).
    • Shooting skill drills.

    Registration: 8:30 to 8:45am BE ON TIME!

    What to bring: lunch, eye and ear protection, holster with belt, handgun (any caliber), 150 rounds of ammunition, minimum 3 magazines, RPAL. Ensure your holster fits your handgun.

    Location: BTSA 50m range. just drive 30m past the gate to SRCC to find the BTSA range.

    Holster and Belt Recommendations:

    • Blade-tech (kydex) style holster ($80-$90). an additional attachment (Drop Offset) can be purchased to drop the gun lower on the belt.
    • Double Alpha ($120).  They are adjustable (canting, height, tilting).
    • Double belt Velcro system.
    • For those who don’t want to spend the extra money, any stiff belt will do. It’s important that the belt doesn’t move when drawing the gun and the gun doesn’t move on the belt.

    A familiarisation day for members who are interested in competing in a match but uncertain about the format, procedures, what to bring and whether and if they are ready for a match. We will also coach new and existing match participants on how to improve their accuracy. 22LR, 300m fullbore and 25m pistol matches will be covered. We encourage our younger shooters to attend this event as well. 

    Bring your .22LR, centerfire rifle or pistol and at least 20 rounds. 

    This is also an opportunity for RSO's who are interested in running a match to get familiar with the roles and procedures. 

    Arrive between 9am and 2pm and speak to one of the RSO's who will get you started. 

    There is no fee for this event.

The Shotmarker is an electronic targeting system that allows you to see your shots on a virtual target using either a smartphone or tablet. After this course you can use the system on your own, any day of the week.

    The course will cover:

    • setup and use of the system;
    • using the safe;
    • trouble shooting;
    • analyzing groups.

    What to bring: Bring either a wifi enabled tablet or smartphone. ear protection.

    Location: SRCC upper clubhouse

    This is an introduction to marksmanship principles including safety measures, body position, breathing, trigger pull, basic wind reading. Bring:

    Registration starts 1 Sept 2024.

    A fun shoot attended by Swiss Rifle Club members, hunters, and  other wannabe experts trying out their marksmanship.  Practice limited to 2 minutes. You get 3 shots on each of the 6 targets. The target distance is 300m.  We will have 2 classes of shooters:

    A Class = Any open sight (iron sights) rifle.  

                   This class is for the true wannabe expert Swiss hunter.

                     They still hunt with open sights in Switzerland today.

    B Class = Rifles with scopes 

                     This class is for modern hunters. Show what you can do at 300m.

    Targets:


    Costs: (include  snacks, coffee & dinner. Every shooter will receive a meat package pre pared by Valbella Gourmet Foods in Canmore)

                    Repeats at no charge but only if time permits

    This year we are reverting to simplicity. Dinner will be your choice of beef or chicken burger or a bratwurst roll. Have more than one! Salad and veggies included. We will try to make it as gourmet as possible using the best ingredients we can find. 

    The medals for the Swiss matches have arrived and will be awarded to to those that qualified. 

    The trophies to the winners of the 300m Swiss A & B, Swiss Pistol and .22 competitions will also be awarded at dinner. We hope to have it engraved in time.
