New Members

Application Process

The application consists of two parts. The first is a questionnaire regarding your background and interests; no payment is required at this point. If you are accepted into the SRCC, you will be sent part two of the application where you will be required to provide payment of your membership fees. Since we have far more people interested in applying than we can accept into the club, we recommend you try next year if you don’t get in this time. You can add your name to our ‘new member alert’ list to be alerted to when we are taking in new members.

Application Period

The application period goes from 1-30 September 2019.

important dates

  • 1-30 September 2019: membership application period

  • 4 October 2019: you will be advised whether or not you were accepted into the club.

  • 4-10 October 2019: payment of your 2020 membership dues

  • 19 October 2019: range orientation

  • 18 April 2020: alternate range orientation

New Member Orientation

All new members must attend an orientation to the range. Before you apply to the SRCC, make sure you can attend one of these dates. You will receive important information on safety procedures and range operations and get your membership card. For those completing the 2019 orientation, you can start using the range as of January 1st. For those attending the later session, you can start using the range as of that date.

There are two dates to choose from:

  • 19 October, 2019

  • 18 April, 2020

New Member Pricing

All members of the SRCC must belong to the Alberta Provincial Rifle Association (APRA). There is no requirement to apply separately to the APRA, it is part of our application process and the fees are included. For 2020 this is our pricing structure which includes the APRA fee:

  • Initiation Fee: $200 (this is paid only in your first year)

  • Single: $250/year

  • Up to three additional family members: $30/year per family member (this would include your spouse, and children ages 12-25 years old)

Read Our Website First!

Before you apply, we highly recommend that you read our entire website. This will answer most of your questions regarding our range: location, the type of firearms you can use, range rules, pricing, history, and so on.

Renewals

Renewal Period

This section is for existing members only. The renewal period for existing members goes from 1 September to 1 October 2019. Applications received after October 1st will be treated like new members, so make sure you get your renewal done within this period.

Renewal Pricing

For 2020 this is our pricing structure which includes the APRA fee:

  • Single: $250/year

  • Up to three additional family members: $30/year per family member (this would include your spouse, and children ages 12-25 years old)

Pop Quiz

Included in the renewal application is a short quiz that goes over some of the basic rules of the range. Over the last year it became clear that several people did not fully understand some of the rules, so we felt this was a good opportunity for everyone to refresh themselves. Before you start the renewal application, please read the Facilities page on our website. All the answers are on this page. If you fail the test twice, then you will have to attend a refresher course before you can renew.

Membership Cards

We will be sending out permanent membership cards this year. In future years, we will issue an annual sticker that you will need to apply to your card (similar to how you update your license plate). This should make it simpler for our volunteers to administer going forward.

Lock Codes

Currently the lock codes remain the same. We anticipate that the main gate lock on Homestead Rd will change in the new year sometime. Once that happens we will email you the new code.
